Comets
I am studying about comets and I am going to write about how big or small comets can be and different types of comets too. Also I will take about how the comets orbit around the sun and other planets.
Comets are Asteroids but they are just on fire and are flying threw the sky. Then at one point finally hit the ground. They also have what is called a tail be hide it when it flies over the sky. Comets are rocks and they start to melt and are small once they hit the earth’s surface.
Each comet takes a different time to orbit the planets and the sun and they are also different sizes. Some of the comets have a temp. of over 1,000D. Almost every where there are comets falling from the sky, this is what people call shooting stars.
Comets were made about tons and thousands of years ago. So long tat we can’t even say a date because it was before we made years,days, and weeks.So for all we know is that comets are just left over pieces of planets when they were formed.
Comets are made of rocks that are left over pieces from when the planets formed. They have a rocky rough surface or even sometimes a very smooth surface. They are also 20 times bigger and heavier then about 5 football fields.
I never really knew that comets were left over pieces of planets I thought they would just randomly form and make comets. Also I never knew they could be so huge to a football field or even two
Mercury
I am studying the Planet mercury because 7th and 5th grade are doing projects about all of the planets. I plan on writing about the planets atmosphere like what it will look like, the size, and what is on the planet. I will also try to find the distance from mercury to the sun and earth. I will also include information about how mercury was formed and when it was formed. Also Mercury’s moons, the name of them and the surface. I will plan to say how long it is for mercury to go around the sun too. Mercury history is another thing I will include. Along with many other information.
Mercury’s appearance has many features. One feature is that it is very hot because. It is about right in front of the sun. The size of mercury is about 4,878 km (3,032 miles) At it’s equator. It’s distance from the sun is about 58 million km or 36 million miles. It would be impossible for humans to live on mercury because of it’s heat. Also at night it would be too cold odd enough. Even when the sun is right in front of it. The temp. for mercury can be over 1,000D F and when the sun is not facing it, it can be below -1,000.
Mercury spins on it’s axis that takes 58.6 days (Earth). The period of rotation is also 58.6462Days (Earth). It orbits 57,910,000 km from the sun, orbiting the sun once every 88 days. Mercury Does not have any moons around it. While spinning on it’s axis mercury goes thru many climate changes (see paragraph above). The climate change and go up and down very fast. Mercury is always getting cold and hot because of how short the trip around the sun is. And only takes a little while to go around.
Mercury’s history is odd because it formed about one million years ago and is one of the oldest planets besides the sun. Mercury is know to be the smallest planet in our solar system and the closest planet to the sun. Mercury is not that much bigger then earth’s moon. Also this is with every planet. Mercury was named after a Greek god. Also mercury was the first planet to be named. Most people think it was earth or a other close planet. The Greeks thought that every planet was some sort of a god floating in space.
The planet Mercury is made of mostly rock. There is no other features on mercury but craters mercury has virtually no atmosphere. Mercury’s high daytime temperatures cause gas particles to move very fast. Because mass is small, it’s gravity is very weak. If you are on the side of mercury with the sun on it you would most likely burn up. If you were on the side were the sun was not shinning on you would freeze. So no one has been able to step foot on mercury or even get close to it. The reason why is because the sun is right by it and it would be too hot to land or too cold.
I never really knew anything about mercury until I studied about it. I knew that it was the smallest planet but I did no that it was only a little bigger then earth’s moon. Also I did not know that mercury’s gravity was really weak. I did not know that mercury had no moons. I thought that it had two or one at least. I also thought that some how there could be water there. Then I remembered it is way too hot to have water. There are many things that I didn’t know about Mercury.
